Ms Mary Mwila

Mary Mwila is a music educator with more than 10 years’ experience of teaching music in tertiary institutions including Kasama College of Education and Chalimbana University where she is to date. Currently she is a PhD fellow studying with the University of Zambia. She completed her postgraduate studies at the University of Zambia and undergraduate studies at Zambia Adventist (Rusangu) University. Her research interests are in music in primary education music and politics, Music Technology and Music teaching pedagogies. In recent years, her focus has been on establishing the status of music education in Zambian schools and use technology in the teaching and learning of music. Currently she is working on strategies of using music as a teaching and learning resource for Chalimbana University Centre of Excellence for Early childhood Education.
Mary is a member of both PASMAE (Central Africa) and the Zambia Association of Music Educators. She is the founder and leader of Chalimbana University Arts Theatre which comprises among others choir and traditional cultural group. Her future pursuits include promoting the teaching of music through research and eclectic pedagogies.
