About the Host Country

PASMAE-ISME REGIONAL CONFERENCE 2025

Currencies: Uganda’s local currency is the Uganda Shilling (UGX). USD is widely accepted for major transactions like hotel and airport transport, but it’s best to have local currency for daily expenses. I recommend exchanging money at Entebbe Airport or trusted forex bureaus in Kampala upon arrival, rates are typically better than banks or hotels.

o  Airport Transport: I am coordinating all transport from Entebbe to the hotel/guesthouse. It’s best to pre-book for both convenience and safety. Shared transfer is $30/person and private transfer is $60. Payment can be made in cash (USD preferred) upon arrival.

o  Leisure Activities: Attendees might enjoy visits to the Uganda Museum, Ndere Cultural Centre, Buganda Royal Palace, or a short city tour. We can provide suggestions or arrange group excursions depending on interest.

o  Dining Options: Near the university, I recommend:

§  The Lawns: for African fusion and game meat.

§  Piato Restaurant: international cuisine.

§  Café Javas: for casual dining and excellent coffee.

§  Khana Khazana: great Indian cuisine.

§  Endiro Coffee: for light meals and Ugandan-grown coffee.

PLUGS:
In Uganda, the standard plugs are the UK type, Type G, with three rectangular prongs. The voltage is 240V and the frequency is 50Hz, so most UK devices will work without an adapter.
If you’re bringing devices with plugs from South Africa or Europe, I’d recommend bringing a universal adapter, just to be safe.
